Service Description

Morning Knitting Course This fortnightly knitting group is a mixed ability group, be you a beginner, improver or experienced knitter! Join our highly experienced knitting tutor Harriet Couchman , co-founder of online knitting store FLOCK workshops. If you have never knitted before you can follow Harriet's 4 part 'Beginners Course' Over four sessions you will have the option to work through two beginner friendly projects, each carefully selected to introduce a particular knitting technique or skill. You’ll complete each one at your own pace, with help and guidance on hand at each step, and plenty of time to practise between classes. Project 1: Wrist warmers The perfect first project. These wrist warmers are knitted flat, and will introduce you to casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch and how to use combinations of knit and purl stitches to create stockinette and ribbing. You will also learn to cast off, and seam your work with mattress stitch. Project 2: Hat We’ll explore knitting in the round and how to work increases and decreases with a simple hat. You can choose from a classic beanie, a ribbed hat or a chunky winter hat with optional pompom. Are you an experienced knitter? Do you already know how to knit, but want to advance your skills with other knitters in a friendly and supportive environment? Maybe you’ve always wanted to knit a jumper or cardigan, but aren’t sure where to start, or perhaps you want to try something technical like a pair of gloves or socks, or even focus on a technique such as stranded colour work or cables. Either come along with a pattern in mind or we can guide you towards a suitable project based on your knitting experience and what you want to achieve. We’ll guide you through project planning, selecting yarn and patterns, gauge swatching, measuring and choosing a size, following your pattern, fixing mistakes and finishing your project. Bring your own material or pick from our beautifully curated in-store knitting section run by FLOCK ---- Harriet is an experienced knitter and teacher and the co-owner of Flock, an online yarn and knitting shop based in St Leonards. www.flockworkshop.uk Classes will run fortnightly on Thursday mornings 10:30am - 12:30pm Starting Thursday 9th January - 20th February (fortnightly) at Bus Stop Studios 53 London Road St Leonards on Sea East Sussex TN37 6AY
