Creative Watercolour Course - Saturdays This six-week Creative Watercolour Course taught by local watercolour artist Alice Stevenson is designed for beginners and those who want to brush up their watercolour skills. Through a range of fun exercises, demonstrations, and projects you will develop watercolour techniques and gain the confidence and inspiration to create a personal style with the medium. By the end of the course, you will be able to: - Mix a range of colours and tones - Develop a personal painting style - Experiment with a range of brush strokes and techniques - Be inspired by a range of contemporary and more traditional watercolour practitioners - Start a watercolour sketchbook - Use watercolour and gouache - Combine watercolour paint with watercolour pencils and fineliner. - Build up colour and tone - Paint from your imagination - Paint from nature and a still-life - Plan and complete a final painting Over the course of 6 half-day weekly Saturday afternoon workshops you will cover the following: Week 1: Mark making and mixing colour Week 2: Painting from still life and nature Week 3 Abstract Watercolour and Painting from Imagination Week 4: Examining different artist’s approaches and techniques and developing a style. Week 5: Final Piece (Week 1) Building on the work done in the previous sessions, you will have the freedom to work independently on a painting or series of paintings throughout the final two weeks of the session with individual feedback and tutorials. Week 6: Final Piece (Week 2) You will continue to work independently with individual feedback from me. We will review the skills acquired throughout the course and make personalised plans for continuing our watercolour practice. --- Course fee does not include material, once booked we will email you a list of required materials needed --- Alice Stevenson has worked as a commercial illustrator for a range of publishing, advertising and editorial clients since graduation from BA Hons University of Brighton in 2005. She is the author and illustrator of two books of illustrated essays and now works full-time as a watercolour artist creating bespoke commissions and selling original work. She has worked as a Lecturer on various BA Hons Illustration courses and a short course leader at City Lit as well as leading creative workshops at The V&A. --- Running on Saturday afternoons 2 - 5 pm 11th Jan - 15th Feb 2024 @ Bus Stop Studios

Please note our classes are mostly aimed for adults. Please get in touch to ask if you are unsure. Our classes are non refundable. Due our small class sizes it is very difficult to transfer your booking to a different date. If you cannot attend a class and are able to notify us at least two weeks before the class starts, it may be possible to fit you in on another date but this is not guaranteed so please give us as much notice as possible to increase your chances. T&Cs Terms & Conditions • You can book places on our classes, workshops and events on our website or in person at Bus Stop Studios, 53 London Road, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN37 6AY • Places are booked on a first-come-first-served basis. Full payment is required at the time of booking in order to reserve your place. • Bookings and payments will be confirmed by email. • The materials and tools needed for each class varies, so please refer to the course description but don’t hesitate to contact us with any queries. • If you are unable to attend a class, workshop or event you may send someone else in your place. You must let us know the name of the attendee prior to the class, workshop or event taking place. • Confirmed & paid bookings are not eligible for payment refunds. • You can transfer to another class, workshop or event or receive a credit note if you notify us at least 14 days before the date of the class, workshop or event you are booked on to attend. • In exceptional circumstances, where we may have to cancel one of our advertised classes, workshops or events, you will be offered a full refund. • If a class, workshop or event is cancelled our liability is solely for the cost of the booking fee, not for any other costs you may have incurred such as materials you may have purchased in advance, travel costs or accommodation. • Attendees at our classes, workshops and events are not permitted to use any of our instruction sheets, photography or designs for their own classes or other commercial concerns.
